Welcome to Men’s Resiliency Lab! I’m Reggie Jackson, a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker with over 20 years of experience working in the field of mental health. Many of those years were focused on working with men, helping them navigate through difficult circumstances. Over time there were themes to those sessions and groups that I provided. Depression, anxiety, performance concerns, adult ADHD and impulsiveness created poor functioning and led to different residual challenges, I call it the ripple effect of men. Let’s not forget the hardwork it takes to manage work/life balance, relationships, fatherhood, and perfectionism.
Many men I’ve worked with reported feeling unsupported, misunderstood, or underappreciated in their own homes. That’s not to say that they did not have some responsibility in creating those situations, but they were unclear how to work their way out of those places—and that’s not abnormal. Those uncomfortable thoughts and feelings are part of the human experience. Here, we don’t dwell on the struggle; what is done is done [in most situations], and unless you have really special talents, like The Flash, you can not go back and revisit your origin story and rewrite it.
The gap that I hope to fill with this website is to help men like me trying to figure it out, a step at a time, and realizing that many men are dealing with similar things, just on different spectrums. So check out a blog, grab a PDF or an ebook. Feel free to send comments, ask questions, etc. Please share and help build out this community. Peace!
